This is a “practical parable” to encourage Christians to keep sowing, in season and out!
It has been a costly season of trying to seed grass into dirt after a killer summer drought. David said, “I will not offer to the Lord that which costs me nothing”, 2 Samuel 24:24. Rather than waiting for the fall, we have been working hard to get grass back for our kids to play in and to keep up property value. THIS is stewardship – not letting what God has given us go to weeds.
Whether it’s ideal conditions or not, Christians are encouraged to sow and water! This means speaking the truth in love and doing the work of an evangelist (2 Timothy 4), even, and especially when, it is not ideal conditions. Remember, He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3), so out of the overflow of His love, let us boldly and courageously be ambassadors for Him (2 Corinthians 5:20).
